Tim McLean: The Greyhound Bus Killing

On July 30, 2008, 22-year-old Tim McLean was travelling aboard Greyhound bus 1170 in Manitoba, Canada, when he was attacked and killed by fellow passenger Vincent Li. Li was later diagnosed with schizophrenia and found not criminally responsible because of mental disorder. Over the following years, his freedoms gradually increased, and in February 2017, now legally known as Will Baker, he received an absolute discharge. In this episode, I tell the story of Tim McLean, what happened aboard the Greyhound bus, the court’s decision, Vincent Li’s treatment and eventual release, and the aftermath for Tim’s family.
