I’m talking about treating your home like a business Because most people think you just hire a nanny to watch your kids I didn’t hire a nanny though I hired a HOUSE MANAGER - and she runs my home The cool part… Theres no chance that your partner gets upset that you stopped doing housework Because they’ll get just as much time back (or more) BUT like any new hire… process is key Align on these and it’ll be an easy win: 1. Responsibilities At the highest level, what is your House Manager responsible for? Think big: property maintenance, seasonal preparation, vehicle maintenance, event planning, pet care… Doesn’t mean she’s holding a wrench in the driveway swapping winter tires - but she makes it happen. Even more important… What are the principles? What does it look like when the house runs smoothly? - Things are proactively done - Everything in the house is organized - Schedules are kept Then you get specific: 2. Routines Curveballs happen and you need flexibility… But for what is predictable, write it down. List the daily, weekly, monthly, and seasonal routines: - Pick the kids up at 2:45pm on weekdays? - Groceries bought and stocked on Mondays? - Area rugs need cleaning every month? Always keep it up so there’s never confusion. Then you get detailed: 3. Preferences Sometimes you do care HOW something is done - so make it super clear. Just the other day I was traveling - I get to the hotel and the gym is closed 🤨 What did we learn? New preference to set for travel booking.
